Evolution of the Flesh or Sanctification of the Spirit?

This graphic can be corrected by changing just one word.

Many Christians, today, hold to a belief in human evolutionary theory. This belief foundationally stems from looking first to secular origins science rather than God’s Word and trying to make God’s Word fit into that paradigm. As a result, all sorts of distortions of His Word arise and, unfortunately, permeate the minds of many professing Christians sometimes even with greater influence than the Gospel.

I came across this graphic today which helped me to solidify something I have been tossing around in my head for a while. It was presented in a Christian forum I frequent by a professing Christian. While it is not my intention to call anyone’s faith into question, it is certainly my intention to call into question an incorrect teaching of our origins and to present the truth of God’s Word. Here’s the graphic:

This statement can be corrected by changing just one word.

This is a false statement but it can be made true by changing one word – the very first one. Instead of “evolution” it should say “sanctification”. That would be entirely biblical.

Evolution is the transformation of the flesh to perfection, and we know our flesh is our enemy. We should have no interest in perfecting it.

Sanctification, out of our salvation in Jesus, is the transformation of the spirit/soul to perfection, which evolutionary theory denies the existence of, and is our born-again ambition – to become more like Christ. It is the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us both at the moment of our salvation and also over our lifetime walk with Jesus.

Paul writes of sanctification here while warning of the dangers of abandoning correct tradition:

But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

[2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 NASB]

Our flesh has been crucified with Christ and is passing away with the rest of Creation, not evolving into something better.

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

[Galatians 2:20 NASB] see also 5:24

Listen to Romans 5-8, particularly 5:12-8:25. Paul highlights in great detail the battle between our dead, sinful flesh and our renewed spirit in Christ using himself as an example. This passage also teaches the reality that death, both physical and spiritual, is a result of Adam’s sin (the “man” in 5:12). This is an essential and inseparable part of the Gospel! This truth is entirely beneficial to meditate on especially if you are struggling with evolutionary issues as a Christian. Why? Because human evolutionary theory teaches that death and destruction have always existed and have actually led to the development of man. So, if death is not a consequence of Adam’s sin, God is a liar and Christ’s sacrifice is vain.

Clearly, human evolutionary theory is a man-made idea in opposition to God’s Word. I consider human evolutionary theory to be a Beast System Ideology. You can learn more about that here.

  1. Can it not be asserted that evolutionary belief MAKES DEATH THE SAVIOR!!! Just think of that! Countless billions of life forms, and rudimentary versions of humans, had to die, as the saving force of the “survival of the fittest” wrought its “creative” work through eons.

Just think of that! Evolutionary belief takes the VERY TOKEN OF OUR FALLENNESS — DEATH — and glorifies it as the vehicle toward the life we now have.

This Satanic belief will never acknowledge that by one man SIN entered into the world, and as a consequence – DEATH BY SIN.

Who, but the Liar From the Beginning — Satan Himself — could propound such a God-defying thesis: DEATH OF MERE MORTALS (OF ALL THOSE EXCEPT CHRIST) IS THY CREATOR AND SAVIOR !!! !!!

    Just think of that.

    • you know, Judith, i think you’re spot on. this is one reason why our culture is so fascinated with death in that we have skull stickers on our cars, are fascinated by zombies and vampires and shop at places like Hot Topic. people generally stay near the thing they fear and try to cosmetically make it less than it actually is.
