So, here’s the thing. It’s the words he chooses to use. Slander the prophet? Wouldn’t you like to ask him what he would consider slander?
Consider…
You will never hear a Christian say “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
It would be like a Muslim saying “The future must not belong to those who slander the Savior of Christianity.”
You won’t even hear a Christian say that.

You will never hear an Atheist say “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
It would be like an Atheist saying “The future must not belong to those who slander the Savior of Christianity.”

You will never hear a non-Muslim say “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
It would be like a non-Christian saying “The future must not belong to those who slander the Savior of Christianity.”
But you will hear a Muslim say “The future must not belong to those who SLANDER THE PROPHET of Islam.”

So…. is that the same as saying that those who slander the prophet of Islam should have no future? It could certainly be interpreted as such…
Wow. I just listened to more of the speech for the first time. I can’t believe I’m saying this but.. I think that one sentence was taken way out of context. WAY out of context. He also said the future should not belong to those who persecute the Coptic Christians, deny the Holocaust, keep women down, or are offended by slander of Mohammad yet slander the Christian’s Jesus. While I pretty much disagree with him that those who practice freedom of speech shouldn’t “own” the future, I don’t see that one sentence as particularly sinister when listening to what else was said. Unless I’m missing something?
I hear you. I listened a number of times. It’s the way he said it and the words he used. No one who is not a Muslim refers to Mohammad as “the prophet.” I don’t view Barack Obama as telling the truth about much. So when he uses those kinds of words and then we see what actions he has taken to accommodate all things Islam, even though he said the rest of that stuff, I believe it was just fluff. He had to say it, otherwise it would have been way too truthful. But then, that is still just my opinion.
I do still think the question is valid. Why did he say “slander” and what would he consider slander? I’d really like to know. He’s slandered Christ plenty of times.
